Temperature recording system oven chamber (TESO)

Problems:

A recording of the wall temperature is generally achieved through three levels in the oven. Three water-cooled pyrometers mounted at the push rod measure the wall temperatures during the squeezing process in the furnace.

This well-known method has the disadvantage that the sensitive instruments have to be brought into the hot chamber. Despite of the water cooling a long-term failure is caused. The necessary water cooling, too, is sensitive. Leakages cause that water splashes against the hot walls, which should imperatively be avoided to prevent damages at the masonry.

Another disadvantage is that neither the temperature of the sole nor of the ceiling of the furnace chamber can be determined and that a measurement is only possible in three defined levels of the respective furnace wall.

A continuous recording and analysis of the temperature profile of the furnace walls after each squeezing operation is required to check the flues and the operating temperature. Thus the life of the furnace and the coke quality is controlled and optimized.

 

Tasks:

  • Non-contact detection of the temperature distribution of the oven wall (right one) after each squeezing operation by two thermal imaging cameras, one installed at the coke feeding machine (KAM) and one at the coke transfer machine (KÜM).
  • Online evaluation of the horizontal temperature profile long the furnace over three levels: the sole, middle and ridge with subsequent data transmission to a central data base in accordance with the currently existing measurement.
  • 2D-representation of the temperature distribution of the furnace walls according to the oven wall geometry.
  • Geometric reference of the flues to the furnace temperature profile.

 

Solution:

An infrared camera (temperature range beginning from 800°C) each is installed at the KAM-side as well at the KÜM-side. Using appropriate software and hardware the camera is integrated and so the measurement of the furnace wall is executed. This is done without any substantial interference to the coke squeezing process.

The measuring data are transmitted to the server, analyzed and presented.
